Srinagar, Dec 03 (KNO): The residents of various parts of Srinagar city, including upper and downtown areas, have raised concerns over the use of loudspeakers mounted on vehicles to sell vegetables and other goods, stating that the constant noise is causing significant inconvenience. Many families, particularly those with elderly or ill members or young children, are struggling to cope with the disturbance. Several residents from Srinagar city, speaking with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said these loudspeakers continue all day, terming it unbearable. “My father is unwell and needs rest, but the noise keeps him agitated,” said Amina, a resident from Sonwar. “The problem is if one vehicle goes, another arrives, and we are frustrated with this continuous noise.” Another resident, Mubashir from Chattabal, said, “Our children can’t study properly because of the noise. ‘Sale sale sale, 150 rupees sale’—this is what we are hearing all day,” he said, adding, “Once the sale is over, another vendor shouting ‘Tamatar, Mattar, Gougjii’ arrives, and because of this, we are frustrated and can’t even stay peaceful at our homes.” Residents have requested the authorities to regulate this practice and take action on this—(KNO)
